cis-Aconiticum Acidum – Aconitic Acid

The attenuations are prepared from cis-aconitic acid, COOHCHC(COOH)CH₂– COOH, MW: 174.2.

As with all catalysts of the citric acid cycle, aconitic acid too shows an affinity for internal respiration. Asthmatic attacks “out of the blue”, with no warning, are typi- cal. The patient is easily chilled and sensitive to the wind and to changes of temper- ature, linked with facial neuralgia, toothache, lesions of the scalp such as eczema and urticaria, with frequent changes of mood, irritability and violent temper-out- bursts.

In asthma and eczema, also in hay fever, it works well in combination with Na- trum Pyruvicum. In emaciation of the young it may be combined with Pituitary and Thyroid gland sarcodes. It is also effective when combined with Succinicum Acidum and Natrum Oxalaceticum.

Pains in the bones at night, also in the spine between T3 and T4, also in C7 and in the sacrum (and in Scheuermann’s disease). Old fractures are painful, even after many years.

It is also indicated in disturbances of the Citric Acid cycle, impregnation phases, also in asthma, angina pectoris, pruritus, skin diseases, psoriasis, precancerous states, and in neoplasm phases (especially in the early stages) to improve cell-respi- ration.

Essential Characteristics

Dryness of the lips and throat but increased secretions in the eyes and nose. Dreams of being murdered or shot. Aversion to sweets. Pain in the forehead behind the eyes. Constant head pain. Aching ear pain. Coryza with thin watery discharge. Chapped and cracked lips. Pimples on the forehead or nostrils. Increased appetite. Abdominal distention. Offensive flatus. Cutting chest pain.

Mind

Difficult concentration. Confusion on waking. Dullness and boredom. DREAMS: of death of relatives, discolored teeth, swimming in water. Dreams of dying or being murdered or being shot. Unremembered dreams. Restlessness. Sensitive. Procrasti- nating. Procrastinating. Agreeable mood.

Generalities

Food desire of cheese, meat, cold milk, soup, and spices. Aversion to sweets. Sen- sation of heat at night. Weariness in afternoon. Internal restlessness. Tense muscles. PAIN ON WAKING.

Head

Pain at base of head. Constant and continued pain. Pain in evening, on waking, and with vomiting. Pain better external pressure. Pain in forehead behind eyes and above or extending to head. Temple pain that extends to eye or to neck. Sharp pain. Pulsating pain. Throbbing pain in the left occiput.

Eye

Lachrymation as if crying. Sensitivity to light.

Vision

Blurry like looking under water.

Ear

Aching ear pain especially the left ear. Pain on waking or in the evening. Right sided ear pain like pressure.

Nose

Coryza. Cracks in corners of nostril. DISCHARGE that is watery and thin , or clear, from posterior nares. Eruptions inside nose. Itching inside nose or improvement of that allergy symptom. Sinus pain. Obstruction improves. Pressing pain at root of nose. Sneezing.

Face

CHAPPED LIPS. Cracked lips especially at the right corner. Discoloration under eyes or makes the face red. DRYNESS of lips or around nose. ERUPTIONS of acne or pimples on the forehead or nostril.

Mouth

Aching gum pain. Inflamed palate.

Teeth

Sore pain from wisdom teeth.

Throat

Dryness not better from drinking. Pain in the cervical glands.

Stomach

Appetite is increased and ravenous, or decreased appetite. Distension. Nausea dur- ing the headache. Thirsty at night. Indigestion.

Abdomen

Distension. Painful flatulence. Sharp pain on the sides. Shooting pain.

Rectum

Straining at stool. FLATUS that is offensive flatus improves, or flatus during stool. Frequent urging during urination.

Stool

Scanty. Soft. Stringy.

Genitalia, Male

Incomplete or erections difficult to maintain.

Genitalia, Female

Pain at menses improves. Sensation as if menses would come on.

Chest

Cutting pain around the heart. Pain on waking.

Extremities

Dryness of hands. Aching of the shoulder. Bilateral dry, circular patches below each elbow.

Sleep

Sleepiness in the afternoon. Sleeplessness from headache.

Skin

Dryness of skin or in patches.
